Curious breach of promise case heard in London recently. Came out in evidence that the lady objected to her intended smoking and said he must choose between her and his pipe. He chose the pipe! Whereupon she sued him for breach, and claimed a thousand pounds damages. The judge when summing up said he believed with R. L. Stevenson that no woman should marry a non-smoker. Verdict for plaintiff—damages one farthing! The lady will be wiser next time! Smoking's all right. It’s the tobacco that’s so often all wrong. Too much nicotine to be healthy in those imported brands. It’s a slow poison, but a sure one. Go for the toasted New Zealand —the toasting gets rid of practically all the nicotine, so that you may smoke all day and every day, and keep as right as rain. Toasting also gives the haccy its delicious flavour and wonderful bouquet. Only four brands of toasted, remember — Riverhead Gold, Cavendish. Navy Cut No. 3 and Cut Plug No. 10. Of course, there are imitations so beware! 117
