WOMAN’S AWFUL DEATH,
TRAGEDY IN FIJI.
EXPLOSION OF GELIGNIT& United Press Assn—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received June 17, 12.30 p.m.) SUVA, June 17. A shocking tragedy occurred at the Naslnu stone crusher last
evening. Mr Sabben, the Government mechanical engineer, with his wife, arrived with explosives and
stores In a car. Mr Sabben left the car and a minute or two later there was an
awful explosion. Mr Elliott, the manager of the stone crusher, was approaching the car and both he and Wlr Sabben were flying to the ground, but escaped serious injury. The ground was covered with tiny pieces of flesh and bone, and Mrs Sabben’s mangled head and the upper part of her shoulders were found three chains away over a creek. Some of her clothing was wrapped round the windscreen some yards away. The two feet, cut off at the ankle were found 60 yards from where the car stood. The car contained SOIb of gelignite, 200 detonators, and a quantity of benzine. The cause of the explosion I# a mystery.
