TWO MEN INJURED.
WELL KNOWN RESIDENTS.
ACCIDENT. ON TE RAPA ROAD.
CYCLISTS HIT .BY LORRY. The Te Rapa Road was the scene of another serious accident at 5.15 last evening, when two well-known Hamilton residents were knocked off their bicycles by a motor-lorry. The two men, Messrs Reginald William Bennett, a solicitor, and Leslie G. Marquand, a member of the staff of Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., were cycling along the Main South Road in the direction of Te Rapa and had reached the hill on the north side of No. 1 Bridge when they were overtaken and struck by a motor-lorry driven by Mr. R. N. Brown, of Horotiu.
Mr. Bennett was rendered unconscious and was conveyed to the Waikato Hospital suffering from concussion, scalp wounds and abrasions. Mr. Marquand was also admitted to the institution suffering from shook, scalp wounds and abrasions. Both the bicycles were wrecked.
The hospital authorities reported today that Mr. .Bennett passed a restless night and his condition is still serious. Mr. 'Marquand passed a comfortable night and his condition is not regarded as serious.
