STRUCK BY LADDER.
MARRIED WOMAN INJURED. CLAIM FOR £2OO DAMAGES. HURT WHILE SHOPPING. '• Following upon injuries received ' from a ladder which fell on her whilst ■ in defendant’s shop, a married woman named Annie Bailey, of Frankton, sued j. r. 'McKenzie, Ltd., for £2OO dam- » ages before His Honour Mr. Justice Herdman and. a jury at the Hamilton Supreme Court this afternoon. ■’ Plaintiff was represented by Mr. J. > F. Strang and defendant by Mr. N. ' Johnson.
Mr. C. L. Mac Diarmid appeared for • Fow, Cobbe and Co., an employee of which firm was on the ladder undertaking the work of fixing a blind when the accident occurred. Fow, Cobbe ' and Co. were therefore joined as third 1: party. In her statement of claim plaintiff set out that on January 25 she entered the Hamilton shop of defendant firm for the purpose of making purchases. Whilst transacting business there a heavy ladder fell upon her, injuring r her head, shoulder, arm and leg. She also suffered from shock.. In consequence her health had been considerably impaired and she still suffered from headaches and sleepelessness. (Proceeding.)
