FIRE AT WAIHI.
BUSINESS PREMISES GUTTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIHI, Monday. The first fire for some time to threaten the business centre occurred at 9 o’clock last evening, partially gutting the premises in Rosemont Road, occupied by Messrs F. Timanus and Co., ironmonger, H. Carbutt, grocer, and R. Toomey,'bootmaker. The splendid work of the brigade prevented the conflagration spreading to the -adjoining shop. The buildings, which were owned by H. Berridges’ estate, were insured in the New Zealand Office for £SOO. Timanus and Co.’s 'stock was covered for £IOO, Carbutt”s for ' £2OO, and Toomey’s for £250, all in the New Zealand Office.
