OBITUARY.
DR. J. GILES. FORMERLY A MAGISTRATE. .. (By Teleg-rapb.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. The death has occurred of Dr. J. Giles, aged 97. ■Deceased was a surgeon in the Crimean war, and a friend of Florence Nightingale. lie went to Gabriel’s Gully goldfields. Subsequently he was editor of the Southern Cross Magazine, Warden on the West Coast, Magistrate at Wanganui, and from 1888 to 1893 Magistrate at Auckland. MRS H. A. GOING. The death' has occurred at BirkenWhangarei, of Mrs Elizabeth White Going, wife of Mr H. A. Going, o'! Onerahi, in her 78th Year. mr J. h. mcgovern. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. The death has occurred at Brkenhead of Mr James Healey McGovern, at the age of 66 years. Mr McGovern was a well known athlete in his earlier days.
