In the course of the last year there was a considerable increase in the consumption of hydro-electricity in the Wellington province, which covers the southern half of the. North Island. The increase amounted to about 7000 kw., and means a sub T stantial increase.in the revenue of the hydro-electricity department. The improvment in the returns appears to have come a little earlier than' was anticipated.
