HANGATIKI LIME, LTD.
IMPORTANT EXHIBIT AT THE SHOW. A matter of studious concern to those associated with the dairying industry is the heavy loss that is" sustained through infertility and abortion in -stock. It has been analytically proved that in cases where one class of stock'lias been grazed on pasture for a considerable period, particularly where farming is intensive, that the soil becomes “cattle., sick” and “ sheep sick ” as the case may be. This directly results from the pasture becoming impregnated with germs from the stock, or, in other words, “soured” through the constant grazing of one class of stock on the .particular area. In such cases infectious diseases such as the above thrive under these conditions.
The use of lime of good quality, such as Hangatiki lime, acts as a corrective of these conditions. Its high alkaline nature renders it a foe to all acidity', while at the -same time it acts as a “ tonic ” to the soil, im*’~oving its texture and increasing the beneficial bacteria. HANGATIKI LIME also imparts a mineral content which is often lacking in constantly grazed land and which, taken up by plant life and by that which the stock imparts, -supplies a needed requirement to the health and disease resistance of animals. HANGATIKI LIME also checks such weeds as pennyroyal, which flourish in sour ground, and which contain a chemical inducement to the above troubles. HANGATIKI LIME may be ordered through any farmers’ merchant -or storekeeper or direct from the company’s stand, which is in the main annexe at this year’s Show. A communication to P.O. Box 1425, Auckland, will receive prompt attention. 763 ...
