SOUTH POLE HERO.

SEE HIM AT THE SHOW. The adventures of Admiral Byrd have been closely followed by all. The particulars of the recent expedition to the South Pole by the plucky adventurers have been cabled around the world and have been read with interest and admiration. Without -the assistance of the faithful dogs, however, the expedition would perhaps ’not have met with the success that it did. The valuable work that these dumb and faithful animals performed is also known to all.

The public of Hamilton is being afforded the opportunity of actually seeing a real livfe Esquimaux dog, yes, originally one of Byrd’s pack leaders. This handsome silver grey animal, almost as big as a lion, is on view in the amusement section at the Waikato Winter Show, his temporary home being in a tent near the merry-go-round immediately beneath the new school building. Born at the South Pole, he is well worth seeing—in fact he is a “ show in itself.” “ Beauty ” is extremely intelligent, is quite harmless and takes a great interest in all who visit him. A visit to the show would not be complete without seeing “ Beauty ” The ohildren will just love him whilst lovers of dogs will never forget him. This beautiful dog has a past that he may well be proud of—he, in fact, together with the assistance of man has made history which in pounds, shillings and pence cannot be estimated. Never before and never again will Hamilton have the opportunity of seeing a dog which actually took an active part in the recent South Pole expedition.
