BICYCLE THIEVING.
A DISTURBING epidemic TWO STOLEN EVERY WEEK. Two bicycles, on- an average, are stolen in Hamilton every week and in the majority of cases are never‘recovered, despite the efforts of the police. Unfortunately stolen bicyoles can be easily disguised by changing the parts and filing off the number of the machine. It is this apparent immunity from detection that is responsible for the prevalence of this disturbing epidemic of thieving, which is growing apace and defying the efforts of our police force to combat. On the other hand, there are ample examples available where stolen machines have been recovered in country districts miles away from where they have been taken.
