N.Z. SPORTING REVIEW.
This week's issue of the N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review is truly representative of the opening of the winter sports season. In the centre double pages appear snapshots gleaned at the opening meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt. Spills and thrills are well to the fore in the remarkable page of Grand National incidents at Aintree, and another active page is provided by the attractions at the Royal Sydney Show. Racing enthusiasts will appreciate the three splendidly illustrated pages of the spectacular jumping at the Wanganui Jockey Club’s steeplechase meeting. Another attraction is a study of Royal Doulton. Marking the beginning of the British Rugby team’s visit an excellent full-page photograph is rproduced of the full team. The Grammar Old Boys v. Manukau Rugby match and the League contest, Northland v. Auckland, are sure to prove welcome to football fans. The Gover-nor-General’s reception to the King’s Empire Veterans is recorded in interesting snaps. Racing on Broolclands track and painting the Firth of Forth Bridge have received special treatment; and other overseas subjects are Hans Andersen Festival, Chelsea tableaux, twins convention, derelict submarine. In addition to a series of winter fashions and a beautiful frontispiece the stage and screen pages contain original studies of well-known favourites.
