The annual meeting of the New Zealand Friesian Association will toe held at Palmerston North on Thursday, June 19, when the following report will be submitted. The championships at the N.Z. Royal Agricultural Society’s Show at Invercargill in December, 1929, were won by: Bull Hanley Nether land Butterboy, G. H Hassall, Kaiapoi; oow, Cluny Pietje Hope 13th., W. Y. Dlolde & Sons, Ferndale, Gore. The N.Z. Breweries Ltd., presented a 100-guipea Gold Cup for* the best cow bred by her owner. This cup was won by R. K. Macdonald, Edendale South, with Carlowrie Beauty. This trophy is competed for annually at the Royal Show, and the winner received a ten-guinea replica. The North Island Championships competed for at the Manawatu A.P. Show in November, 1929, resulted: Bull, Fairdale Colantha Echo, Mrs M. 0. Fell, Longburn; cow, Livingstone Lady Wakalona, W. J. Eames, Hunterville. The South Island Championships competed for at the Timaru A. and P. Show in October, 1929, resulted: Bull, Bloomfield Al'cartra Clothilde, W. Y. Dickie and Sons, Ferndale, Gore; cow, Pareora Echo Blossom, T. Sherriff, Clandeboye. There are now seven honorary members, one life member, 684 members, 26 junior members, and. 55 associated members, a total of 773 members belonging to the Association. During the year six export certificates were issued, two to Victoria, one to New South Wales, and three to Fiji. During 1929, 86 C.O.R. were gained by Friesians under semi-official test, with an average production of 15,336.2 lb. milk and 534.511 b. fat. The certificates of record gained by Friesians now total 1743 with an. average production of 13,604.91 b. milk and 479.06 lb. fat. This compares more than favourably with the records of any other dairy breed in the Dominion. Messrs W. E. A. Gill, D. J. McGowan, 11. E. Johnson and E. M. North, retire from the Council this year. During the year, 47 gold medals were given, imir to the North and the South' Island Champions, 36 to winners of most points at Agricultural and Pastoral Shows, and seven to class leaders in production 1929. The Council regreats to report the deaths of the following members: Messrs Geo. Aitchison, T. W. Williams, P. F. Boucher, S. Hodge, J. Wrifeht, W. McHattie. The Association gave £SO prize money for a Provincial group competition at the 1929 Royal Show in Invercargill. Two provinces—Canterbury and Southland —were represented Canterbury winning first prize and Southland second prize an dthird prize.
