DAMAGED CAR.
SUSPENDED OVER BRIDGE. NO TRACE OF DRIVER. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. A five-seater Oakland motor-car wak discovered at 11.30 last night suspended over the parapet of the bridge over the Tamaki River, south of Otahuhu. The front portion of the body had crashed th.ough the parapet and was overhanging the water. The left-hand front door of the car was open, and in the water directly below was found a man’s over-coat. The police were informed, hut when they arrived on the scene there was no trace of the occupant of the car. A bankbook found in the car bore the name of Duthie. Articles in the car comprised traveller’s samples belonging to Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Limited. THE DRIVER IDENTIFIED. BUSINESS MAN OF WAIUKU. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. It was ascertained this morning that the driver was Alexander Duthie, aged 38, a prominent business man of Waiuku. He is married, with one child. At the time of the accident, Mr Duthie was motoring to meet his brother, Mr R. T. Duthie, who was arriving by -train from Dunedin. The river, has been searched, but no trace of the driver has been found.
