Lady Bledisloe was tendered a reception by the women’s organisations of Auckland in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon Their Excellencies will hold an afternoon reception at Government House on May 29, and on June 3 they propose to give a ball in honour of the birthday of the King. • • • • Mrs. Frank Cooper, of Hamilton, leaves for Christdhurch to-morrow night and will make her home there. • » * * Miss Erena Ward, of Hamilton, is spending a holiday in Auckland. « * * *> Miss D. Ring, of Hinuera, is visiting Auckland. * * * • Mrs Arthur Pittar, of Gisborne, is visiting Hamilton. * . * * • Miss Doris Clark, of Hamilton, is spending a holiday in New Plymouth. • * * • Mrs. H. Rolf, of Claudelands, has left with her son on a motor trip to Gisborne and Napier. * * * * Mesdames R. P. Griffin (Ruawai), Lewis and T. Jones (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel. • * • • Miss Madge Grace, of Hamilton, left on Monday for a holiday in Auckland. * * * * Miss E. Steele has returned to Morrinsville after spending a short holiday in Rotorua. » • • * At a meeting of the executive of the carnival in connection with St. George’s Church, held last evening, Miss Jean Gilflllan was elected Business Queen and Miss Connie Buckland Sports Queen. * * • * The newly-formed bridge circle of the Lyceum Club held its opening evening on Monday night. Mrs. W. D. Ross was the prize-winner. This circle promises to to be very popular and intending members should communicate with the convenor, Mrs. Speedy, in good time. Meetings will be held every fortnight. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Mary, the only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Knight, Gordonton, to Charles, the only son of the late Mr and Mrs J. O'Neill, of ißallymaquigan, Magerafelt, County Derry, Ireland.
