At the wool sales, 10,313 bales were Offered including 2,720 from New Zealand. Approximately 5,000 bales were sold. There was a moderate offering of merinos and a good supply of New Zealand crossbreds. There was. a brisk tone and good competition, prices being maintained. New Zealand greasy crossbred, “ Omapere,” top price, 13d, average 12d; half-bred “ Ugbrooke,” 13£d and 13^d. At Bradford the continued stoppage is causing uneasiness and a slightly depressed tone. But prices are very firm. , , . New Zealand halfbred slipe. lambs “ Gfm/Belfast,” 154 d; flinest halfbred greasy combing, “ Key,” 144 d. BRISK DEMAND IN LONDON. CROSSBRED PRICES IMPROVE. WELLINGTON, Monday. The Department of Agriculture has received the following advice from the High Commissioner, London, dated May 17:— ° The wool sales continue with a brisk demand. Crossbred prices are now fully 10 per cent, above the closing rates for the last series. FARMERS IN SYDNEY.

Also 223 bales were sold privately.’ ' There was good general competition and the. market was firm at late rates for. all descriptions. An outstanding feature was the demand for average to good wools, prices for which showed a hardening tendency. Greasy merino fleece sold to 23Jd.
