UNITED CONFERENCE.
NOT INVITED. STATEMENT BY MR. FLETCHER. MR FORBES WOULD LOSE VOTE. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Commenting on the fact that he had not been invited to the United Party Conference Mr Fletcher, M.P., states that he would have attended had he been invited in the usual way. “ Now I would not go if they implored me,’’ he added. “ One big reason for not inviting me was that Mr Forbes knew that he would lose a vote if I were present.” Mr Fletcher said that he had never resigned from the United Party. What he had done was to intimate that he would not in future attend caucuses. “ But this meeting, on Wednesday is not a caucus,”'said Mr Fletcher. “It is a conference, and as a member of the United Party I should have been invited.” .
