Though as far as is known there is no actual proof (reports the Taranaki Daily News) it is said that the first aeroplane trip over Mount, Egmont was made in 1916 by a ’plane from the German raider Wolf, flying at night. The Wolf came close to New Plymouth one night in the course of her mine-laying operations and several residents of the district firmly asserted that on the night that coincided with wli&f was afterwards known to he .. visit 'from the Wolf an aeroplane circled Mount Egmont and flew ,cv„ the Pouakai Ranges.
