REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETINGMOST SUCCESSFUL YEAR. At the annual meeting of the Waikato Rugby Referees’ Association there was a good attendance consisting of delegates from all the sub-associations. The meeting was presided over by Mr C. N. Rabone. The annual report stated that the past season was the best the association had experienced and it was very gratifying to see the keenness of the members of the younger sub-associa-tions, and particularly of the newer members. The holding of the meetings in the various, districts was a new move on the part of the executive, and was made principally to give the newer members of the country sub-associa-tions an opportunity of judging the value of the work of the association. During the season a set of examination test papers was received from the N.Z.R.R.A. and was taken by all sub-associations. Twelve members were successful in obtaining a first class pass and it should be noted that eight of these were what may be termed country members. Thanks were due to the Waikato Rugby Union for financial and other support, to the Hamilton and kindred rugby unions for the arranging of rooms for meetings held in various districts, to the press and to rugby union officials generally, also to Mr Brydon for acting as supervisor for several country examinations and to a number of sub-association members who transported to outlying districtsDuring the season the association was unfortunate in losing a very enthusiastic and respected member through the death of the late Mr L. W. W. Brown, who for many years was so closely connected with the game in the Waikato. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £l3 9s lOd. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted in the following appointments: President, Mr S. E. Senior (Hamilton) ; secretary, Mr B. S. Marshall (Hamilton), delegite to the Waikato Rugby Union, Mr Seville (Matamata) ; appointment board, Mr J. (McKenzie (Hamilton), Mr Cummings (Matamata). _ The presidents of all subassociations were appointed vicepresidents.’ Executive: The president, secretary and Messrs W. M. Hollis, Webbere, Moxham, Callis, Rabone, F. Curling.. Delegate to Dominion Conference, Mr B. S. (Marshall (Hamilton). \ Reference was made to the pending departure from the district of Mr H. Vause (Cambridge). Regret was expressed that the association should be losing the services of so enthusiastic a member. The loss of the services of Mr T. Cooper through ill-health was also the subject of regret.
