FIVE POINTS OF SUCCESS. Efficiency in pig production requires that the farmer, provide himself with all the followng:— 1. As complete a practical and theoretical knowledge of the business of pig raising as is possible. Farmers who have had little or no schooling in other than the practical side of the business are very often successful. 2. Land and a food and water supply of the class most suited to dairying and mixed farming. Pig farming is not a business that can be successfully conducted on barren, unproductive soils. 3. Command of the amount of capilal necessary to float and carry the venture to a productive stage—though a big banking account is not necessarily a guarantee of success. 4. Up-to-date, convenient pigsty and paddock accommodation. Expensive show animals and an elaborate outfit do not guarantee success in the absence of knowledge and application. 5. The most suitable class of breeding stock- A few really good animals are better than a large number of nondescripts. <•
