Bindon, secretary of tho Hamilton Golf Club, will receive entries on or before April 15, Improvements at St. Andrews. The rain which fell during this

week was needed at St. Andrews, and should, within a short time, put the course into flrst-class order, as its condition at the week-end was quite good, despite the long dry spell through, naturally, the grass in spots bore a brown appearance. One noted a number of minor improvements which should tend to make play even more pleasant * than last season, but after an absence of some months, what most struck the writer .was the condition of the practice putting green near the club house. This has come on wonderfully and does credit to the care Mr lhle, the custodian, has bestowed upon it. One noticed •!. L. Black and the club professional, N\ Bell, junr., holing out putts from any old length upon it, whilst some of the lesser lights were also putting up quite good performances. Another great improvement is the lining of the ■dining room, for which work, one understands, the Ladies’ Olub provided | the funds. This has saade a won- ! derful difference to the room. All lin -all the indications are that the I course and appointments generally , will be in flrst-class trim for the Easter tournament, and that playing ' conditions should be excellent throughout the regular winter season-
