WEDDINGS

FOWLER—WATSON, The marriage was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Te Awamutu, on Thursday between Ruby Lavinia Watson, daughter of Mrs Geo. Jeffs, of Te Awamutu, and Mr Reginald Fowler, son of .Mr and Mrs Murray Fowler, also of Te Awamutu. The officiating priest was the Rev. Father . O’FlynnThe bride, who was given away by her step-father, Mr G. Jeffs, wore a gown of ivory moire with olose-fltting bodice and long skirt, falling to an uneven hemline. Her veil of Brussels net fell in graceful folds, caught at either side with orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of pale pink and white flowers. Her bridesmaid was Hiss Reta Page, who wore pale pink figured georgette, with long panels, and a blue felt hat to match. Her bouquet was of blue and fawn flowers. In attendance as best man was Mr Frank Woods. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Central Tea Rooms, the bride’s mother receiving her guests in a frock of biscuit lace and georgette, with black Bangok hat. The bridegroom’s mother wore black charmeiaine with touches of white, and a shaded felt hat. Later in the afternoon the happy couple left by motor for Frankton, en route to Auckland, whence they sail

on Friday for Sydney, where they will take up residence. The bride’s go-ing-away suit was of pale green, with white felt hat.

RICHARDS —THOMPSON. The marriage was celebrated at the Trinity Methodist Church, Wanganui, on Tuesday, by Rev. J. Reid, between Jessie Phoebe, third daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Thompson, West- ' mere, ' Wanganui, and Leslie Sutton Richards, elder son of Mr and Mrs G. M. Richards, Waingaro, Waikato. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a frock of white mariette, the flared skirt having inset panels of silver lace. The long bodice was finished at the hip with a pastel posy. The Brussells lace veil aiso formed a train, and was held by a little silver juliet cap finished with orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white blossoms. Her sister, Mrs N. T. Holm, of Wellington, was matron of honour, and wore a frock of powder blue panne velvet and blue hat. Her bouquet was of autumn-tinted Iceland poppies and begonias. Two small flower girls, Phyllis and Ilona Hill, cousins of the bride, from Rongotea, wore picot frilled frocks of while crepe de chine, with silver caps, and carried posies of blue and white. Mr Thornton Richards, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Royale Willows, where Mrs Thompson received her guests wearing a gown of black georgette and lace, with black and gold hat, and carrying a bouquet of golden chrysanthemums and dahlias. Mrs Richards, mother of the bridegroom, wore black lace, with a black hat, and her bouquet was of purple and lavender. When - Mr an<j Mrs Richards left blear, the latter wore a frock of crepe satin in dark dahlia tones, with panne velvet hat and golden fox fur.

STANLEY —OLIVER. On Wednesday morning the wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Matamata, of Alice Oliver, daughter of Mrs J. Finncrty, of Auckland. and Edward Thomas Stanley, fourth son of the late Mr and Mrs Stanley, of Matamata. The church had been prettily decorated with mauve and pink flowers by girl friends. The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr J. M. Hill, of Te Poi, and wore a frock of ivory georgette over satin fashioned with long sleeves and long-fitting bodice, and skirt falling to an uneven hemline. Her shower bouquet was composed of white blossoms and maidenhair. A niece of the bride, Jean McDonald, as trainbearer and flower-girl, wore a frock of pink georgette trimmed with rosebuds She carried a basket of pale pink dahlias. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Letty Oliver, sister of the bride, wore a frock of powder-blue georgette, (Continued in next column.).

w-hile Miss Daisy Bishop, of Papatoetoe, wore maize georgette. Each dress was made with sleeveless bodice and hip yokes of gold metal lace finished with hows. The skirts were formed of three flounces, pointed at one side and hemmed with gold lace. The bridesmaids wore capettes to match their frocks, made with bandeaux of velvet leaves and posies of tulle on cither side. Miss Oliver's bouquet was of pale pink flowers and that of Miss Bishop bronze shadings. Mr 0. Stanley, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr G. Fitzgerald as groomsman. Rev. A. C. Hampton officiated at the ceremony. A reception was held in the Town Ilall, which was prettily decorated with flowers and streamers. Mrs Finnerty, wearing a smart frock of navy georgette and pandan and lace straw bat to match, received the guests. She carried a Victorian posy of crimson roses and dahlias and wore a coat of dove-grey silk and a grey fur. The bride’s travelling dress was of russet rose silk rnarocain, with felt hat to tone. The home of Mr and Mrs E. T. Stanley will be in Matamata. A dance in the Town Hall was held on the evening of the wedding day.
