SUCCESSFUL DOG TRIALS

WAINGARO —TE AKAU. The Waingaro-Te Akau dog trials were held at Mr W. Seavill’s woolshed, Waingaro. On the first day the wea l.hcr was fine, and quite a large crowd of spectators witnessed some good work in the heading events. Intermittent rain rather spoiled the attendance on the second day, and the use of a different mob of sheep made matters considerably more difficult for the competitors, but the work, although in many cases not of outstanding merit, was at all times of an intersting nature. At the close of the trials Mr C. Parsons, in the absence of the president (Mr R. Harrow), presented the Seavill Cup to the winner (Mr T. 11. Richards) and on behalf of the club thanked all those who had helped to make the trials a success. Special votes of thanks were passed to Mr W. Seavill for the use of his grounds and sheep, lo Mr Ralhbone for the use of his sheep, and to the judge (Mr S. Voycc, of Tc Kuiti), who had travelled a considerable distance and whose decisions met with universal approval. , In a few well-chosen remarks Mr Voyce made complimentary reference to the trial ground and to the standard of work displayed by the dogs cornnoting. He said it was obvious ha the majority were not specialised trial clod's but were the good all-round sort, that would keep a man in his job; and lie advised those present to see Unit their learns consisted mainly ot this type of dog.
