RUGBY FOOTBALL.

ALLEGATIONS AT MORRIN3VILLE. DISCUSSED AT MEETING. NEW ELECTION HELD. Owing to the fact that rumours throughout the town and country were being circulated that irregularities had taken place in the election of the Management Committee at the annual meeting of the union last week, a special meeting was held at Morrinsville to go into the matter. Delegates were present from the following clubs: —Terriers, United, Tatuanui, Springdale and Te Puninga, also tliu referee, Mr Morrison. Mr T. A. Colson was voted to the chair, and the hall was filled with footballers from clubs in the district. The secretary, Mr C. Mclntyre, explained the proceedings at the last meeting, and said that the papers had been dealt with in the usual manner. Mr D. Point said that he was one of the scrutineers, and had done the duty as usual. Mr A. Gillespie also stated that the ballot had been carried out in the usual manner, and he understood that (he papers had been destroyed afterwards. The scrutineers were asked to again examine and count the papers whicli had been recovered from the fireplace and other places, and after carefully doing so, Mr Point announced that the papers were so mutilated that they could not count them, and as certain insinuations had been made as to their integrity they would resign their positions as scrutineers and let the meeting appoint others in their place. The chairman thought that the matter should be cleared up at Hie present meeting. Mr McDavitt moved that a fresh election be held. This was agreed to. The delegates carefully examined the mutilated papers, and each notified that they were correct. The former scrutineers having resigned, Messrs Blair and Mcllardy were appointed in their places, new papers were distributed amongst lire seventeen delegates, and a good ballot was taken. The following were declared duly elctced:—Messrs Colson. Sing, Hogg, Thomas, McDavitt arid Ford. The chairman thanked those present for their attendance, and for the manner in which they had helped him in dealing with a very delicate question. He hoped that they would now all work together for the good of football, and that the game would prosper. It was resolved that the old voting papers he deposited for safe custody ir the Bank of New Zealand for three months, in case of any further dispute. Mr Hogg moved that the seeretary write to Messrs D. R. F. Campbell and D. Point and thank them for the valuable assistance they had given to the club, and express members’ regret at losing their services. The motion was carried by acclamation.
