(Received April i, 0.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 1. *A fire which broke oat in the premises of Harris Brothers, drapers, in George Street, about four o’clock this morning spread rapidly and endangered a large shopping block in George and Goulbourn streets. Th flames leapt high in the air. Firemen from every city station were still lighting the llaines at a laic hour. GOOD SAVE EFFECTED, GREAT DAMAGE DONE. United Press Assn. — Elec. Tel. —Copyrij (Received April 1, 12.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 1. Firemen from eight brigades effects a good save, assisted by the car park ing area, which prevented the tlamc! spreading along the block. Harris’ premises were gutted, and adjoining shops suffered badly from water. The damage wilt run into many thousands.
