Members of the St. Mary's Tennis Club journeyed to Waihi beach yesterday on the occasion of the annual picnic of the club. Favoured with ideal weather the outing was in every way a success. Palmerston North building returns *or the year ending to-day show that ;he total value of permits amounted to £335,190, exceeding the previous peak year, 1926-27, by nearly £15,000. The increase over last year’s permits was nearly £60,000. During the year 182 new buildings were erected, an increase of 48 over the previous year.
