Wairarapa A (0) defeated Homewood (0) by 12—8; Parewanui (6) defeated Matangi A (14) by 18—16. THE RHODES CUP. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The Christchurch Polo Association’s tourney closed on Saturday, when the final match for the Rhodes Handicap Cup was played between Pareora A and Pareora B. Pareora A (handicap 4) had no difficulty in heating the B team (handicap 12), by 21 goals to 13. RIFLE SHOOTING. THE KING’S PRIZE. WON BY SOUTH AFRICA. LONDON, March 29. The King’s Prize in the Empire miniature riile shooting competition was won by South Africa, with an average score of 83.2 points. Canada was second, with an average of 80.25; Britain third, with 09.40; and New Zealand fourth, wit 66.49. Australia did not qualify. New Zealand established a record for the Dominions with an entry of 13,147 boys in the competition. Australia had 237 0 entrants. Sixteen Australians and 13 New Zealanders won medals for scores of 97 or higher. The Dominion had 10 units, all Aucklanders, headed by the Auckland Grammar School, which was 13 th among the Empire’s best 100. The Royal Australian Naval Reserve, Sydney, 11th, was the best of Australia’s seven honour units.
