AN ASSOCIATION WITH A CONSCIENCE.

HARMONY BETWEEN BUSINESS MAN AND FARMER COUPLED WITH THE ENTHUSIASM OF THE WOMEN FOLK OF TOWN AND COUNTRY, WORKING FOR THE COMMON GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY, HAS MADE THE WAIKATO WHAT IT IS TO-DAY.

TO OUR LADY EXHIBITORS: First of all we would like to draw jour attention to the reduction that has been made in the charges for entry fees in the Home Industries Section this year. This should be a great inducement for exhibitors to compete in many more classes. Your Committee is always faced with the question “ what can be done to improve our Shew from an exhibitor’s standpoint 1 ?” This is a vital question for all to consider. I know and you know that we must go forward c<r stagnation is inevitable. AYe are hoping this year to increase interest in the Women’s Section and to get a larger number of exhibitors and particularly interest those who have not previously taken an active part in the Show. Exhibitors will receive a cordial welcome from the officers of the Association and everything will be done to make exhibitors feel that their efforts were worth while and that they are not only benefiting themselves but also doing their part in making the Waikato Winter Show a greater success than ever. Of late years our Show has taken on wider character than the mere display of products. It may bo called the show-window of the Delninion. We want you to take part in this, your Show, because the Show is an educational institution; it is a builder of wealth in its community; it demonstrates what has been done; it is designed to! show produce of all kinds; it inspires visitors to try to. equal, then excel; it causes investigation as to b.ow things are produced; it shows that the best may as well be produced; it demonstrates that the best brings the most money; it show better results can be obtained by less work; it shows that well directed energy wins; it makes one love her home and country more; it teaches the futility of complaint; the utility of sunshine; it is the annual meeting of old friends; it is promoted for all, to benefit all, to entertain all and to educate all; it is the best object lesson for children; there are none too big and none too little to remain outside the gates; its cost is the one wise expenditure each year; it is an advertisement of the products and resources of the country. At its close when our patrons and exhibitors are leaving the Buildings they will have smiles on their faces and on every lip the words “it was the best Show ever held and we will come again next year” and they will not be heard singing as they take their homeward way that old Scotch song, “We’ll gang nae mair to ycto toun, but surely we will come again.” Yours sincerely,

Secretary,
