SUCCESSFUL PICNIC. Three large buses and several cars filled to capacity with staff and friends numbering 150, left Hamilton for Waiiii Beach, under ideal conditions, at 7.-10 a.m. on Sunday, arriying at then destination at 10.45. Most of the picnickers took advantage of the opportunity for a dip in the surf until lunch timeAfter lunch sports and games were held on the beach. The prizes were presented to the winners by the manager, Mr 11. D. Caro, assisted by Miss Sweeney. Then surfing and sanies were continued until the time came to return. The committee, headed by Miss Sweeney, is to be congratulated on the success of the dav’s outing.. The following were the winners of the various events: —Men’s flat race: A. Galbraith 1, P. Clarkin 2. Married ladies’ race: Mrs Saunders 1, Mrs Mclntosh 2. Staff handicap: Girls, seniors, Miss Hamblin 1, Miss Saunders 2: juniors, first heat, Miss Taylor 1, Miss Burgess 2; second beat, Miss Davies 1, Miss Pardington and Miss McKinnon 2,. Staff relay: Old Shop v. New Addition, won by the latter, represented by Misses Haines, Taylor, McKinnon, Saunders, McDonough, and Sweeney. Wheelbarrow race: G.
