STATESMAN AND PATRIOT. i CELEBRATES EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY. NUMEROUS TRIBUTES PAID. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY’, March 9. Numerous tributes to Professor T. G. Masaryk, President of Czechoslovakia, on Hie occasion of the SOth birthday of this great statesman and patriot have appeared in the English press in the last few days. Last evening the event was celebrated in London at a dinner of the Czech Society of Britain. Sir Samuel lloare, who was Secretary of State for Air in the late Conservative Government, presided.
Tlie Foreign Secretary, Mr Arthur Henderson, and the United States and French Ambassadors were among the speakers who paid tributes to the life and work of Professor Masaryk. Messages referring lo Ids greatness were received from Hie Prime Minister, Mr MacDonald, and two former Prime Ministers, Mr Baldwin and Mr Lloyd George.
