SCHOOL PICNIC.

SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. OF COMBINED SCHOOLS. The annual school picnic of the combined schools of Te Pahu, Karamu and Kanlwhaniwha took place on Mr Whittaker's paddock, To Pahu. Tlie committee, with the assistance of the ladies, had everything well arranged, and the day proved most enjoyable to everyone. The teachers, -Mrs Steel, Miss Parker and Mr Cook, worked hard and the success of the picnic is largely due to their efforts. The relay race was, as usual, the most exciting event of the day, while the relay for (he B grade was also keenly contested. At the close of the day each child received a book, these being presented by the chairman of each school. In the evening the annual dance was held in the hall, music being supplied by Misses Strong, Parker and Arthur. PATERANGI. A HAPPY OUTING. The annual Paterangi school picnic was held on Mr Vickers’ property at Tuhikaramea. The spot was ideal. There was a very large gathering of parents, children and friends- After the children had had a swim and 'luncheon, the most interesting events of the day commenced. A very pleasant day was spent by the children of Hie Orini School and parents at tlie annual school picnic which was held in Mr death's paddock. The varied programme of running, jumping, skipping and novclly events was greatly appreciated by young and old alike. -V feature of the spoits was Hie introduction of swimming events, which were held in a large pool close by.
