HOMING PIGEONS

HAMILTON CLUB

The Hamilton Homing Club had a race on Saturday from Palmerston North, a distance of 180 miles. The event was for the President’s trophy, and 47 birds were entered. They were liberated by Mr Murphy at 10 o’clock, hut, unfortunately, met the heavy rain en route, which spoiled the race, as only four birds regained their lofts on the day. Results were :—• IL Scott's “ Mick,” velocity, 704yds per min., I; AV. G. Pountney’s “ 3014,” velocity, 699yds per min., 2; W. G. Pountney’s “ 3022,” velocity, 699yds per min., 3; A. Sharpe’s “2812,” velocity, 692yds per min., 4. These were the only members who “ clocked ” in.
