SOVIET AND RELIGION
DECREE REPRODUCED. CONTROL OF BUILDINGS. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel.—Copyright. LONDON, March 7. A White Paper has been issued reproducing the Soviet decree controlling religious associations. The decree is virtually a legal code setting out the terms under which religious groups may register the lease of buildings free of charge. It throws little light on religious persecutions, beyond disallowing the organisation and meeting of children, young people, and women for prayer, Biblical study, and the teaching of religious thought. If leased or, purchased religious buildings shall not be nationalised or form a charge on a local authority. If a place of worship is liquidated all platinum, gold, silver, and precious stones must be placed to the credit of the Soviet funds. Other articles, such as ikons and robes, will be handed over for worshippers elsewhere is desired. A WARLIKE RECTOR. BRING RUSSIA TO REASON. (By Telcfrrapjv— Press Association.) LONDON, March 8. A world war against Russia, in which millions of Christians, Jews, and Moslems should make up armies of the Lord God, is the ambition -of the Rev. E. Grevatt, Rector of Pitsea, Essex. He says:— “I honestly believe |a declaration of war by the whole Christian world would bring Russia to reason. She would hardly dare to accept the challenge, but If she were -conceited and boastful enough not to comply, I feel absolutely certain that once the armies of the Lord God crossed the frontier the entire population would hail them as saviours, and three-parts of the Red Army would surrender. “Tyrants would be lucky to escape with their lives. I feel certain ttie manhood of the world would respond to the -call."
