Mr Ernie Lotinga, the English comedian, and several members of his company passed through Hamilton to-day. They are spending a week-end vacation at Rotorua.

Lieutenant F. D. Holt, of the Waikato Regiment, is retired, says the New Zealand Gazette. Lieutenant G. S. Crimp and Second-Lieutenant N. King have resigned their commissions.

In the New Zealand Gazette Captains G. Cawte and J. A. D. Ritchie, of the Waikato Mounted Rifles, are gazetted majors, and Robert R. Atkinson, it is said, is to be Second-Lieutenant.

Dr. D. Miller, entomologist at Cawthron Institute, has been selected to represent the Government at the Imperial Entomological Conference to be held in London in May.

The Cabinet has decided to. adhere to the selection of Professor Tocker to represent the Government at the Labour Conference at Geneva. Mr. W. Donovan, of the Dominion Laboratory, has been appointed Dominion analyst in succession to Dr. J. S. Maclaurin, who is to retire at the encl of the month. Messrs. R. Stevens, A. Giffney, G. Pollock (Auckland), A. J. D. McArthur, J. T. Rose, C. D. Bell (Wellington), C. J. Matthew (Matamata), L. S. Autridge (Thames). and C. Cooper (Dunedin) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr. Justice Henry Wood has left San Francisco by the Ventura, to assume the duties of Secretary of Native Affairs in American Samoa, and to reorganise the system of Government preparatory to a survey by Congress.

Mr. G. E. Cuming, managing editor of the Dany-farmer, who has been on lour with the Australian farming delegation m an advisory capacity, returned to Hamilton this morning.

At tile meeting of the sub-provincial branch of the New Zealand I-armors Union yesterday appreciation of flic efforts of Mr. 11. Munro, manager of Ruakura State Farm, was \oicod bj the chairman, Mr. T. 11. Henderson. He had gone out of his way to make the visiting farmers feel at home, and it was due to his able co-operation that the visit to the farm was such a success. Special mention of the work of His Worship the Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, Mr. A. W. Green and Mr. J. A. Young, M.P.. was laso made, and a vote of thanks to them for their help was ipassed unanimously.
