FACE LIFTING
THE AMERICAN WAY. America has solved the problem • of face lifting without- the trouble of a surgical operation. Women who are troubled with sagging faces merely wear an ingenious invention under their hair. This gadget is guaranteed to lift lines and make sagging muscles support themselves. In London, just now neoklaces made of beads in the form of snakes biting their own tails are extremely popular. These are made by the Al- ■ banian prisoners in various bright clear colours. People who like modern furnishing have taken with en- ■ tbusiasm to some of the rugs which come from that country. The Duchess of York has just had her boudoir at 145, Piccadilly rei decorated and partly refurnished. The 7 walls are now papered pale mauve, while curtains of rich purple damask hang at the big bay window overlooking Hyde Park. . Several beautiful pieces of the antique silver which the Duchess collects occupy the Sheraton cabinet, and there is a carved bookcase containing her favourite volumes all bound alike in purple leather. They ■ include Thackeray, Scott and Charlotte Bronte, as well as several modern poets.
