BAYNE V. POLLARD. LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT CONTEST. Considerable interest was manifested in the light-heavyweight championship wrestling contest in the Otorohanga Town Hall, when W. Bayne (Te Awamutu), the holder, met C. Pollard (Auckland), the challenger. Both men appeared to be well trianecl and each turned the scales at 12.4. The contest went the full live rounds and no fall was secured by either wrestler, although it was evident that Pollard had piled up a comfortable margin of points in his favour. The sixth round, as a finale, resulted in the referee declaring Pollard the winner on points. Pollard therefore holds the lightheavyweight championship of New Zealand. The contest was fought fairly and squarely in a clean, sporting manure. Amateur Bouts. Robertson (Otorohanga) proved much too good for Burrell (Te Awamutu), securing the first two falls in an easy, manner. Percy Hall (Te Awamutu) engaged Tinohoro (Otorohanga) in a bout of two five-minute rounds. Neither wrestler was able 1 to secure a fall, and in a final bout the same position obtained, the referee declaring Hall the winner on points. Charles Woolston (Te Awamutu) and Dale (Otorohanga) next took the mat, and an interesting contest resulted in Woolston securing two falls and being declared the winner. Cojhoran (Te Awamutu) secured two falls from Mick Heddig 'Oioro-h-inga) and was declared the wnmc;-. In the exhibition between Charles Woolston and Churches, of Te Awamutu, no fall was secured in the first round, after which Dr. Gilberd declared that Woolston had sprained his wrist. The bout was declared off'.
