Sir Herbert Samuel has (says a London cable) resigned the chairmanship of the Liberal Party organisation.

The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Public Works, will make a fortnight's tour of North Auckland in January.

Mr Justice MacGregor will leave New Zealand in February on a visit to England.

Mr T. Jarvis, of Newcastle, Australia, is at the Grand Cenlral.

Miss Coralic Cleveley, 8.A., has been appointed assistant-mistress at the Hamilton Technical High School. Miss Cleveley lias excellent scholastic and athletic qualifications.

Messrs W. Mallite (Wanganui), V. Lough, W. G. McClintock, 11. Gibbon and .1. Peters (Auckland) are at the Grand Central.

Mr W. Fraser, principal of the Hamilton Technical High School, left to-day for Tauranga where he will spend the long vacation.

Mr G. H. Priestley, Mayor of Cambrige, left to-day for Oneroa Beach, North Auckland, where he will spend the holidays.

Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, who lias been ordered to take a rest after his recent illness, is spending the next six weeks in the Rotorua district.

The Rev. F. G. Ilarvie, vicar of St. Augustine’s Church, Stanley Bay, lias been appointed vicar of St. Barnabas’, Mount Eden, in succession to the Rev. E. E. Barnford, who lias been appointed tutor at St. John’s College. Mr Ilarvie will take up his new duties at the end of February.

Mr A. G. Johnson, a prominent woollen manufacturer, of Leeds, has arrived from England, and is staying with his brother, Mr E. G. Johnson, of Hamilton. Mr Johnson will four the Dominion before returning to the Old Country.

Mr Harold F. 'Coates, a son of Mr Isaac Coates, Hamilton, lias been elected a fellow of the Royal Victorian Institute of Architects. Mr li. F. Coates was articled to Mr J. W. Warren, of Hamilton, and later was employed in various New Zealand offices. In *1914 he went to Melbourne whore he joined the staff of Messrs Bales, Peebles and Smart, and later was chief draughtsman for Messrs Sydney Smith and Co. lie enlisted as a private in 1914, served Ihrougn the war, and relurncd as a first Lieuhmant. He then joined Mr F. Moody, ihe firm designing some line buildings in various parts of the Commonwealth. .
