21 REMAINING ON ISLAND
A Press Association message from Wellington states that the Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department has received the following message from the superintendent of the radio station at Apia:—
“The captain of the Trongate reports that he has rescued three of the crew of the Norwich City. Remaining on the island are 21. Eleven were drowned when the vessel struck, including six Arab firemen. “Very heavy seas arc raging. We arc doing our utmost to rescue the remainder.”
