RIFLE-SHOOTING
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CADETS. A squad of' nine cadets from the Matamata Junior High School attended the No. 2 regimental district rifle meeting at Waihi. Good shooting was done, and seven of the nine Matamata boys received prizes. Cadets from Rotorua, Morrinsville, Thames, Paeroa, Tauranga, and Te Aroha were present, but the Matamata boys put up an average score of 75 per cent- This was not equalled on the day. Prizes were secured by the Matamata boys as follows : No- 1 Match—(a) Grouping at 25 yards, 10 rounds per shot; (b) application at 25 yards, 10 rounds per shot: Lance-Corporal Mclntyre, Lwice-Cor-poral Cutter, Sergeant-Major Robinson No. 2 Match (prone position barred). (a) Application, 10 seconds per shot; (b) rapid, ten rounds in 90 seconds). —Lance-Corporal Cutter. No- 2 Match (live tiles lin square, time 45 seconds); rifles unloaded and flrers standing until whistle sounded.— Corporal King, Lance-Corporal Cutter, Lance-Corporal Mclntyre, Lance-Cor-poral. Sweetman, Lance-Corporal Settle, Sergeant Scott, Sergeant-Major Robinson.
