THEFT OF OVERCOAT,
TAKEN FROM DANCE HALL. YOUNG MAORI PLEADS GUILTY. At the Magistrate’s Court, Raglan, before Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., a young Maori named Maru was charged with stealing an overcoat, valued at 255, the property of Eric Basil Amundsen, at Te Mata. He pleaded guilty. Constable O’Sullivan said,the coat was stolen from the Tc Mat-a public hall during a dance in January. The matter was not reported to him for several months, lie interviewed Maru and found the coat in his possession. The Magistrate fined Maru 40s, 'with costs 10s. lie warned him that if he appeared before the court again he would probably be sent to gaol.
