The Mark Memorial Handicap and the Stewards’ Handicap are the leading distance and sprint events respectively on to-morrow’s card. The track, following the recent rains, will be on the holding side but, nevertheless, in good going order and many fine finishes should be witnessed to-morrow. From an attendance point of view, the Club can be assured of highly satisfactory results for the first of Its two meetings of the 1929-30 season. Below, the fields In the various events are reviewed and prospects discussed. ny.j* INTRODUCTORY HANDICAP. Of £IOO. Limit 4.10. One mile five furlongs. Wild Downs . Lt. Lt. distance that is not common to these parts, selectors Fir3t Flight . . Lt. will, naturally, be at a measure of discomfiture in Carnui Lt. coming to their conclusions. Conder Belle has shown Mythorpe ... Lt. some ability, and off the front of the handicap the Gold Seam . . Lt. Golconda gelding is not to be despised. Inverness, yds. bhd. w h o hails from Te Awamutu, has breeding to rccompeter Lloyd . . 24 mend her as she is by Van Coronada from Bella \icHorl Dillon . . 24 (, or . Rockburn will have some friends, while Cornelian and Tony Victor, at their best would not be out of it. Warplane has only to do it correctly from the start to give the best of the others a lot of trouble, while the 'eteran Goldman is going to be favoured with the sting out of the ground. Ihe Belfast candidate Lindbergh is being very freely discussed, as on time figures he is distinctly favourably placed. A point not to be overlooked in the assessment however, is whether he will develop his maximum ability on the grass track! Oakhampton has been away from the scene for a fairly lengthy period The back marker Dillon Huon has won at two miles and is in good shape'but his task looks too formidable. When the machine adjustments are finalised LINDBERGH, MOUNTAIN DELL and WARPLANE may be most favoured.
