FROZEN MEAT. SHIPMENTS TO UNITED KINGDOM. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board is advised from London that the shipments to the United Kingdom during September were as follows: — Australia. —Carcases mutton, 14,085; carcases lamb, 66,201; quarters beef, 27,404. South American. —Carcases mutton, 90,383; carcases lamb, 185,374; quarters beef (frozen), 4383; quarters beef , (chilled), 435,500. New Zealand. —Carcases . mutton, 125,045; carcases lamb, 176,355; quarters beef, 783.

CAMBRIDGE BULL SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report having held their bull sale at Cambridge, in conjunction with the Cambridge Jersey Club’s annual bull sale. There were about 30 pedigree Jersey bulls offered, but the bidding was not very spirited, except on one or two odd lots. The highest price for a yearling hull was 29gns., paid by Messrs. Fisher Bros., of Pukevimu, for Mr. R. Atkinson s “ Iltons Defiance.” Mr. D. M. Burke secured 36gns. for “ Pukerimu Dairyman.” This two-year-old was_ purchased by Mr. W. Gibbons, of Walton. Other yearling bulls sold from 14gns. to 25gns., while two-year-olds made 18gns to 21gns. A pedigree Ayrshire in-ought lOgns. There was a full yarding of grade bulls, and good quality animals with good condition realised satisfactory prices: Two to five-year-old Jersey Bulls, £8 10s to £l6j ethers, less condition, £5 15s to £/ 10s; good quality yearling Jersey bulls £ll 10s to £2l; yearling Jersey bulls, others £4 10s to £9 10s; yearling S.II. bulls, £6 10s to £9 10s; 2 to 4-year Ayrshire bulls, £6 10s to £ll 10s.

MATAMATA SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their stock sale at Matarnata on Wednesday, as under:—There was a good yarding of all classes of stock and top market rates were obtained. Heavy fat cows made up to £l2 12s Cd; medium weight fat cows, £8 to £lO 10s; light cows and heifers, £6 15s to £7 15s; store cows, £4 2s (id to £6; empty Jersey cross heifers, £5 12s; yearling Holstein steers, £0; Shorthorn steers, £6 Is; yearling Jersey heifers, small, £4 19s; Jersey calves, £2 11s; grade Jersey bulls, £ls; Shorthorn bulls, £l4; potter bulls, £5; yearling Jersey bulls, £5 ss. Best dairy heifers, £l2 to-£l3 15s; ordinary heifers, £9 to £lO 10s; best cows, £lO to £ll 10s; medium baconers, £3 10s to £3 tßs; medium porkers, £2 16s to £3 ss; good stores, £2 7s to £2 12s; slips, £1 16s 6d to £2; best weaners, £1 8s to £1 11s.

TE AWAMUTU BULL SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: The annual sale of pedigree bulls under the auspices of the Te Awamutu Jersey Cattle Club was held at Te Awamutu The catalogue comprised the largest offering yet submitted at this sale, and attracted a large bench of buyers. Bidding was at no time spirited and the majority of lots offered changed hands at values little better than good grade prices. This is probably accounted for by the x fact that the quality of the animals submitted was not up to usual standard. In cases where the animals were well done and showed a fair amount of blood and butter-fat backing, bidding brightened considerably. The top price for Jerseys was 42gns, which was paid for Mr. F. J. Ryburn’s yearling, “ The Oaks Hawk,” by Jones Est., Pokuru, and by Mr. A. T. Cooper, Puehue, for Mr. J. Mclvor’s “ Director’s Director." Mr. 11. Allen’s yearling, “ Emperor of Woodcrcst,” made 35Jgns, the purchaser being Mr. E. J. Owen, Pirongia. Mr. J. A. Reid’s “ Kuku Xenia Sultan," two years, brought 32Jgns., the purchaser being Mr. W, Hopping, Korakonui. Mrs. M. North’s yearling, “ Northlea Silver King,” brought 27gns„ the purchaser being Mr. J. O’Sullivan, Te Kawa. The yearling, “ Northlea Cheerio,” on account of same vendor, realised 25 gns., the purctiaser being Mr. J. Pollard.’ “ Hippo,” a yearling, on account of Mr. Jas. Shaw, Patcrangi, brought 23gns., the purchaser being Mr. J. R. Cullen. Other yearling Jersevs ranged in pripe from about 9gns. toTsgns; two-year-olds brought from 15gns. to 20gns., hut few bulls of real quality were offered.

TE KUITI SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report that at their fortnightly sale at Te Kuiti a very small, yarding of sheep and cattle came forward to a fair attendance of the public. Prices were about on a par with those ruling recently. Ouotations: Shorn ewes In fresh condition, 20s 6d; empty cows, £6 10s to £7 10s; empty heifers, £5 7s 6d; yearling steers, to £6 ss. Wc yarded six two-year Polled Angus, bulls on account of Mr W. Johnstone, Puketutu. These were subject to keen competition and sold at the following prices: 1 at 17Jgns, 2 at 20igns, 1 at 2lgns, 1 at 24 4gns, 1 at 27*gns.
