LEAP TO RESCUE DOG. NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. A boy about 14 years of age, anxious for the safety of his pet dog, which appeared to be in danger of being cut to pieces by the incoming express train at Hawera station last evening, darted out from the bookstall and jumped on to the back of the animal, in an endeavour to kick it off the line. Failing Over the dog the boy rolled clear, between the line and the next set of rails, just as the engine, easing up, steamed past. The dog leaped back to the safety of the platform.
