The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, will arrive at Auckland to-morrow morning and will be present at the inauguration of the Junior Reform League In the evening. Mr J. Robertson Smith, of Signapore, is at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr. Beaumont Smith, of -T. C. Williamson Films, was in Hamilton yesterday. Mr E. J. Gifford, of the head office, Justice Department, Wellington, is relieving at the Hamilton Court, pending the return of Mr P. Leahy. The Professorial Board of the University of Otago has selected Mr. Noel S. Woods and Mr. James Campbell Dakin as the Otago candidates for the Rhodes scholarships. The British Admiralty announces that Admiral Sir Rudolf Bcntinck lias been placed on the retired list at his own request. Vice-Admiral Sir Hugh Watson has been promoted to the rank of admiral.

Dr. Jarman, who acted as judge of the music section at the Cambridge Competitions, left Auckland to-day for Sydney, en route to Launceston, Tasmania. Pastor G. Bycroft and Messrs B. Jones and F. Molloy are representing the Hamilton Baptist Church at the annual conference of the New Zealand Baptist Union at Auckland. The death of MV. L. W. W. Brown was noted with regret by the Hamilton East School Committee last evening.
