SALES-IN UNITED STATES
BUYERS SLOW IN RESPONDING. (Australian Press Association.) LONDON, October 9. The wheat sales have opened, sellers asking an occasional advance, but buyers are slow In responding. There Is a slight increase in the Argentine acreage, counter-balanced by possible crop damage through the recent drought. Parcels are 3d to 6d dearer, but the demand is disappointing. • WASHINGTON, October 9. The combined spring and winter wheat yield has been placed at 791,768,000 bushels, according to a Department of Agriculture announcement 'to-day.
