BOWLING.
NGARUAWAHIA CLUB. THE OFFICIAL OPENING. The South Auckland Centre was officially represented by Mr R. N. Piikington, of Hamilton. The weather was perfect and the green was in fine order, the greenkeeper (Mr J. S. Mr Pilkington, in responding, mentioned important arrangements which the centre had in hand—namely, the game for the Hardley Shield with Auckland, and the trip to the Ray of Plenty, in both of which the centre wished to see as much representation as possible. Then there was the visit of Ihe Canadian howlers, to whom the centre wished to extend a hearty welcome, both on the green and socially. Mrs Birkett then rolled up the golden “kilty” and played the first howl, the green then being declared open.
