MODERN BAKEHOUSE

LATEST PROCESS INSTALLED. GOODALL & HERBERT’S PROGRESS An important milestone in the history of the firm of Goodall and Herbert, the well-known bakers and pastrycooks of Frankton, has been passed with the opening last Saturday of one of the most modern bake-houses in the Dominion. Starting in a small way over 10 years ago, the firm has gradually extended its operations until to-day there is scarcely a street in Hamilton and its environs where it does not deliver. Although the name of Goodall and Herbert still survives. Mr Goodall severed his connection with the business some six years ago and Mr Frank Herbert has been sole proprietor since then. It is under his sound guidance and expert knowledge, assisted by a capable staff, that the firm has gained such an enviable reputation in all quarters. The new bakehouse, which has just received the finishing touches at the hands of Mr T. F. Bowden, the contractor, is of the latest type, built in brick and reticulated throughout with electricity and water. A feature of the bakery is the oven, of which there are only three other similar sets in the North Island. Not only does it ensure ordinary white bread being perfectly baked but also it possesses a special compartment in which the famous Vienna bread is manufactured under the new steam process. Patrons of the firm have a rare treat in store for them in the shape of the new white bread, which it is proposed to produce for the first time next week. A further improvement on modern bakery methods is evident in a new process which enables bread to be mixed, moulded, marked and weighed by machinery. Thus the dougti is untouched by hand from the sack to the table. This machine is a marvel of efficiency and ensures the public clean, wholesome and tasty bread. Favoured with the most up-to-date equipment and a highly-trained staff, Goodall and Herbert can be depended upon to continue the excellent service they have rendered to consumers in the past.*
