GIRL GUIDES’CORNER

Swallow Patrol, First Claudelands Company, writes: Last Saturday wo practised our play and also some ol' the difficult songs. Many of the dresses are made for the concert, and they look very pretty. During the holidays we are going to have practices three times a week. I hope you arc telling many people about our concert, and the children, who also read our letters, will come and bring friends with them. I think some of our girls are going for their first class next month, so they will have to work very hard to be successful. It is very hard to obtain. There is only one girl in Hamilton who has got it so far. I noticed that there was only one letter again in the corner last week. I wish the Guides from other companies would write and fill up the page. A little larger Corner this week, Swallows. We’ll soon have it hack to its old size. Yes, Peter Pan has been telling his friends about your concert, and he wishes you every success with it.—Peter Pan.

“Moonbeam,” Robin Patrol, Matamata, writes: Last Friday, we had a very interesting meeting, in spite of the small attendance of Guides. After roll-call and inspection, in which full points were gained, we were dismissed to our patrol corners. We did not do as much Guide work as usual, as we were so excited about the holidays. • 11 When the ten minutes w r cre up and the “rally” whistle went captain taught us sixteen points of the compass. We were also shown how wc could find north and south without a compass. Uy holding a pole or stick upright on the ground when the sun is shining the shadow falls directly south. Wc are going to learn how to do all kinds of leather and poker work. I think it will he very interesting, and we are looking forward to the lessons. As there are no meetings for us during the holidays I will not he writing till wc start again. Wc hope you are having jolly holidays, Robins. Guide meetings grow more and more interesting, don’t they? —Peter Pan. Robin Patrol, Putaruru Company, writes: This Saturday the order of things was changed a little, as wo finished our meeting with afternoon lea in honour of our leader, who is leaving the district. Wc had ten minutes at our corners, then two very interesting competitions to test the leader’s observance, also a relay-mes-sage game. After singing “Taps” we were dismissed. A very jolly meeting you seem to iave had, Robins. You should miss your leader very much when she £ eaves. Have you another yet?—Pcler^L an. H
