ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
A TRAGIC MISTAKE. . POISON TAKEN FOR MEDICINE. . AUCKLAND, Thursday. A tragic mistage in drinking poison instead of medicine resulted in the death in the Hospital last evening of Mrs. Gertrude Taylor, aged 40, wife of Mr. T. B. Taylor, pastrycook. Mrs. Taylor had taken some medicine earlier in the evening. The members of the family were in the rooms above the shop, and Mrs Taylor went downstairs to prepare supper. She was absent so long that the others went to find out what had happened, and discovered her on the kitchen floor. The bottle of medicine which Mrs. Taylor was using was on a shelf next to the bottle of poison, and it is presumed that she confused the two hollies in intending to lake some more medicine. BOY THROWN FROM HORSE. PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. A lad, aged 14, John Massey, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Massey, Pukekohe, was thrown from his horse on the road near Paerata this evening when the animal bolted, and wa3 rendered unconscious.
