HOCKEY CLUB DANCE.
SUCCESS AT MORRINSVILLE. The members of the Morrinsville Hockey Club held a very successful dance in the Regent Hall on Monday evening. There was a large attendance of local residents and a number of visitors from other districts. The ladies committee, consisting of Mesdames Fitt, Dawson, Reynolds and Osborne, and Misses Verncr, Colson, Casely, Reynolds, Clark, Stewart and Jowsey, did everything to make the dance a success, and are to be congratulated upon the result of their efforts. The ladies committee w'as also responsible for the excellent supper provided. Music was supplied by the Elite Orchestra, extras being played by Mr Moore (Waitoa) and Miss Young and Mr Young. Messrs E. Grigg and D. Hastie carried out the duties of M.C. Mr E. Munn Brown performed the secretarial duties. During the evening the tropilies were presented to the respective winners by Mrs Fitt. The president of the Piako Association (Mr J. Fitt) congratulated the members of the Hockey Club on the advance the game had made during the season. The trophies and winners were as fallows:—Piako Ladies’ Championship Shield, Te Aroha; Piako Association Men’s Championship .Shield, Morrinsville, with an undefeated record; competitive stick for most improved lady player in the Morrinsville Club, Miss C. Colson; medals for the most improved players in the Knox Club, K. Fitness and E. Reynolds. The Horace Humphreys Cup, which had been presented to the association by a number of old members of the Morrinsville Club in memory of Mr H. Humphreys for the runners-up in the ladies’ championship, was w’on by Putaruru and Paeroa, who tied.
