CAMBRIDGE CLUB. The first round of the senior and junior championships was played on Saturday, the results being:— Seniors: A. H. Nicoll heat W. Robinson, 1 up; N. G. Sutherland beat F. Entwisle, 4 and 2. A Boyce beat R. Alford, 1 up; A. W. Nicoll beat Dr. Tod, 4 and 3; Miller beat N. Banks, 5 and 4; M. Wells beat 11. P. Nelson, 2 and 1; E. Nicklo beat A. Garrard, 1 up at 23rd; J. Banks beat G. Calvert, 6 and 5. Juniors: Cox beat .Tames, 2 up; Pearce beat J. T. Entwisle. 2 up; Neely beat Ilewctt, 7 and G. Bogey Match: E. Nickle, 5 up; M. Wells 4 up; MJller 2 up; Pearce 2 up; A. W. Nicoll 1 down; Robinson 1 down; A. G. Boyce 1 down. GLEN MASSEY CLUB. Many of the ladies turned out last week, and some good practice matches were played. During the afternoon a flag match was played between Mrs S. Davies (holder) and Miss E. Tanfield (challenger), Miss Tanfield winning by 2 up. Modal Play. Although the weather during the week-end was the reverse of pleasant, being bleak and cold with frequent south-westerly showers, an exceptionally large number of players was on the links, and some good cards were returned by the players in. the first qualifying round for the medal play. During the afternoon tea adjournment Mr T. Jackson, president, presented the winners, Mesdames S. Davies and W. Cavanagli, with the trophies donated by .Mesdames Dodds and McDowell.
